ABOUT ME

Hi!! Welcome to my blog! I’m Katrien and I’m living in Belgium, a small country in Europe. I’m sixteen years old and I’m attending secundary school in Hasselt. For my English class, we needed to create a food blog and that’s where my love for food began.

With this blog I want to show you all my love for food. I really like to cook or to bake in my free time, preferably with my friends, of course.

If you scroll further you can find the recipes of some of my favourite dishes all time. Moreover, you will discover how I tried to stick to an healthy lifestyle! :))

Hanukkah, let’s go…..

A few weeks ago, my friend and I, we gave a presentation about a special food tradition. For this presentation we chose the food traditions on Hanukkah. It seemed nice to me to share it with you, guys!

Hanukka is a festival that Jewish people celebrate with their whole family. This festival is also known as the Festival of Lights. Hanukkah lasts eight days and nights. Every night they light a candle of a menorah. This is a nine-branched candelabrum. During the festival, the Jewish people eat a lot of traditional food and they play a lot of games with the whole family.

One of the traditional food that they eat during the festival is Latkes. This is a sort of potato pancake. This dish is made with grated potatoes and onions. These are fried in an oiled pan as tradition suggests. Latkes is mostly served with sour cream or applesauce. The other traditional food that they eat is soefganiot. These are doughnuts filled with jam. Delicious!!

“WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?”

Let’s eat someting! I’m starving….

My favourite food is nachos in the oven. It’s so delicious and very easy to make. The combination of all the ingredients fits so well. I don’t eat this a lot so I’m very excited when my mom makes this dish.

Are you curious? Check the recipe below and try it at home. Let me know if you agree with me on the taste. Vice versa, you may inform me about your favourite dish so that I can try it. Just drop the recipe in the reactions! :))

ENJOY YOUR MEAL!!

Favourite place in food heaven!

Just like everyone, I also like burgers and French fries. And yes,… sometimes I don’t stick to my healthy lifestyle. When I fancy a delicious burger, I prefer to go to a restaurant in Hasselt called Botanique.

I really like to go to this restaurant because there is a very cosy atmosphere. And the servers are very friendly.

The French fries are based on sweet potatoes and they are selfmade! If you don’t want to eat the sandwich of your burger, you can order a topless burger! Just like the food, the lemonades are also selfmade. My favourite burger is “Nacho Macho”. You really should try it!

And I’m not going to lie…. the burgers are mouthwatering!

Didn’t you know….

If want to impress your friends or family… You need to read this!!

1. ….that chocolate is as healthy as fruit? If your mom encourages you to eat fruit instead of chocolate, you can tell her this! :)) This is based on research! Dark chocolate is a higher in disease- fighting antioxidant than a fruit juice made from blueberries.

2….that white chocolate isn’t chocolate? White chocolate isn’t made with real chocolate components. It is made with a LOT of sugar, milk products and vanilla.

3…..that cranberries or also called “bounce berries”? When cranberries are ripe they bounce just like rubber balls. So if you want to play, you can always use cranberries!

4.….that ketchup was used as medicine? In the 1800s, they believed that tomatoes had medical qualities. So they used ketchup as a medicine for diarrhea and indigestion.

5…..that coffee beans helps you to eliminate bad breath? Coffee beans can inhibite the bacteria that gives you a bad breath. So when you have eaten too much garlic, you can try this trick!
